Counting Crows — Amy Hit The Atmosphere (ver 2) Chords

Amy Hit the Atmosphere
Counting Crows

*** Capo on 1 ***

The previous version was close, but some of the chords sounded weird and he
missed a couple of key spots. I think I've figure them out, and tranposed
this into a set of chords that work really nice —— many pair above, below
each other on same frets and make intuitive slides in the progression. These
chords appear to have F basses often, example B/F anc C/F. Well, this is
much easier with capo as A/E and B/E (just leave top E open).

(Updated: I corrected the intro and outro, which are not the same as the
verse chords as suggested. I also realized the timing was off, and that is
now reflected correctly.)

Great song, one of my CC favorites. Take it nice and mellow.

Chords: (Capo on 1 brings chords to key of F)
E — 022100
A — x02220 (often A/E, 002220)
F#m — 244222
B — x24442
C#m — x46654
G#m — 466444

> = slide up
< = slide down
~ = ring (and/or rake)

Intro:
1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . |1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . |
E A |B* A (E)(A)| (*B/E, 024442)

E A |B* A (E)(A)| (*E/B, x22100, but B is fine)
/ /// / /// / /// / / /

(note: second line's B is closer to an E. But, it is most important to hit
the B note, in E/B or B, so I list it as a B)

=======

Okay, let's get into it...

Intro: (really piano, play chords faintly)
E A |B A(E)(A)|
E A |B A(E)(A)|
(repeat)

Verse 1 & 2:
E A |F#m A (E)(A) |
If I could make it rain to—day,
E A |F#m B |
And wash away this sunny day down to the gutter, I
E A |F#m A (E)(A) |
would, justa getta change of pace.
E A |F#m B |
Things are getting worse, but I feel a lot better, and
A B |E |
that's all that really matters to me.

E A F#m A (E)(A)
Amy hit the at—mo—sphere
E A F#m B
Caught herself a rocket ride out of this gutter. And,
E A F#m A (E)(A)
she's never coming back, I fear.
E A F#m B
Any time it rains she just feels a lot better, and
A B
that's all that really matters to
E
me. (We've waited...)

Chorus:
C#m |G#m |
Sooooooooo—ooo—ooo—ooo long, for
A E |B |
someone to take us back home. It just takes...
G#m |C#m |
Sooooooooo—ooo—o—o—ooo long!
A E |A E |
Meanwhile the days are driftin' a—way and
A E |C#m |
some of us sink like a stoooooooo—ooo—ooo—ooo—
B |A B |
—ne! Waiting for mothers to
E* (start intro)
come.

E* A |B A(E)(A)|
E A |B A(E)(A)|

Verse 3:
E A F#m A (E)(A)
There has to be a change, I'm sure.
E A F#m B
Today was just a day fading into another. And,
E A F#m A (E)(A)
that can't be what a life is for
E A F#m B
The only thing she said was she feels a lot better. And,
A B
that's all that really matters to
E
me. 'Cuz we've waited...

C#m G#m
Soooooooo long, for
A E B
someone to take us back home. It just takes...
G#m C#m
Soooooooo long
A E A E
Meanwhile the day's are driftin' away and
A E C#m
some of us sink like we're stoooooooo—
B A B
—one! Waiting for mothers to
E* (start outro)
come.

E A |B A(E)(A)|

E A |
I wanna know, I wanna know
B A (E) (A) |
 I wanna know, I don't wanna know

(repeat a bunch, then...)

E A
I wanna know, I wanna know

All I really know is I don't wanna know

(repeat a bunch, then last time play...)

E A (slow down)
I wanna know, I wanna know
B A
All I really know is
E A
I don't wanna
E (single strum)
know
